Umkhumbi Lodge is nestled in a pristine sand forest and just 10 minutes from our conservancies. This will be your home-away-from-home in the bush. You will stay the majority of nights at the cozy and welcoming Umkhumbi. There's a bar and pool too, plus resident dogs Shadow and Copper who are always happy to cuddle if you're missing your pets.
Umkhumbi Lodge is part of Kuleni game reserve, and has its own resident wildlife including zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, nyala, suni, impala, warthogs, duikers, vervet monkeys, banded mongoose, bushbabies and even the occasional leopards. It is also popular for its stunning birdlife with regular sightings of pink-throated twinspots, narina trogon, eastern nicator and many more.
You can walk safely on Kuleni to practice your photography.
Umkhumbi has 12 rooms, each with its own bathroom. You'll share a room with one other volunteer. If you're traveling with a companion, you're welcome to share with them. If you're traveling solo, we'll partner you up with someone from the same sex. A single room supplement is available on request.
Umkhumbi has a great restaurant and bar where you'll be eating breakfast and evening meals. Packed lunches will be provided if we're in the field. If you are gluten free, vegetarian, vegan or have other food requirements, please let us know and we’ll be happy to accommodate.
As well as the bar and restaurant there's an outdoor pool for your enjoyment.
Wifi is available at reception.
